And youtube is owned by Google so you're just giving Google more money.

I'm referring to ads on videos themselves not the random crap nobody notices off to the sides.

The YouTubers make a small portion of the ad money and, yes, they loose money when people use adblockers. However, YouTube needs to wake up and realize that their current video ads are absolutely horrible.

Some sites use video ads like YouTube but allow you to type a phrase into a text box which relates to the product, allowing you to skip the ad but still 'view' it. Others allow you to choose how long of an ad you want to watch. The most common practice, though, is to simply not use any video ads longer than 10 or 15 seconds. I turned adblock off for a while to support the YouTubers I liked, but I drew the line after YouTube forced me to watch a 30 second ad for a 5 second film..

Google's success was entirely responsible by how they treated ads. Their search engine didn't let bother you or alter the results of the search. Instead, Google allowed companies to invest in temporary 'sponsored' search results which appeared in a separate box at the top of the search or to the side of it. The 'sponsored' results were useful half the time anyway and Google made money off of it, so people quickly abandoned the ad-laden Yahoo and MSN.

Now Google has decided it's a good idea to shove ads down people's throats on YouTube and they're just going to have to deal with people using adblockers as a result. It's sad that the YouTubers loose revenue, but if Google puts them in a position where the content isn't worth the trouble, then they need to start approaching Google about it en-mass.

As for other sites, go ahead and disable adblocker for the ones that you like. They don't get in the way too much on most of them and, of course, you're supporting the content.

This is the only reason why I even have an Ad-blocker.

I do understand the sentiment of they need ads to survive, but honestly Google went too far and made them way to pervasive and intrusive. Some of my favorite sites use subscription based models that allows them to get around this, yes there are ads, but they aren't pushing them so hard, or cutting up their pieces for ad views and as the subscription gives you access to extra content and streams I'm totally down with that.

I'm not saying it's perfect, but I honestly don't mind ads, so long as they don't actively force themselves on my viewing experience.

I happily sit through a minute or two of ads for an hour long video, but again (and as civ pointed out) when an ad is longer than the video you are trying to watch, that is just stupid.

Which is why I have stayed on the Bigforumpro version of the site since the first little hiccup a few days ago just in case.

Is that version have to be renewed as well or does that have some other restriction?

it's just the URL that's being renewed. The site is still hosted on Bigforumpro so their should never be a problem with the website itself. The link of "thecrimsonflame.com" is the only thing that is being renewed.

So we shouldn't have to deal with this bullshit again till next year.

I'll probably renew it before the deadline next time.

Might have been last year when I didn't need it since they've always let me renew it for free till now. 4 years rent-free is pretty nice lol.

And for some reason you still have a "website" link that just leads to the front page.
