Re: The Catalyst
Act One: Scene Four
He walked slowly through the city’s financial district. Cars sped by on his left hand side, while pedestrians walked quickly by him, unnoticing or uncaring of his presence. Just as he liked it.
The Fugitive had managed to grab a t-shirt and a hat from one of the many clotheslines he passed while in a small neighborhood. These he immediately donned to escape the roving Levo that were now searching for him.
Reggino was a strange city. An odd hybridization of new and old Voxity. It had many large buildings and streets, with several modern and bustling districts with twenty four hour traffic. However, it also had large sections of buildings and streets made from sun baked bricks, and cobblestone roads.
The Fugitive was currently in one of the modern districts. His simple shirt, pants, and hat fit in perfectly with the diverse collection of rich, poor, and middle class that walked through Reggino’s modern sections. The odd mismatched boroughs of new, old, rich, and poor forced its citizens to pass through districts and neighborhoods that they would never be seen living or working in for their own respective reasons.
He kept walking. Contemplating his next move. He’d made it this far. Before reaching Voxity, the Fugitive had passed through much of Europa. Potensana, Pallentia--where he’d learned the art of parkour from some natives.
But he still had a long way to go. Reggino wasn’t anywhere near a port, and the highways were now likely to be clogged with Levo patrols.
His only hope was to escape through to the mountains, and finding a route through the small towns until he could reach a port city.
And so he walked. He continued to walk to avoid his destiny. To avoid his “duty” as it had been prophesized. But it was not what he was meant to do that bothered him, it was what he had already done. The people he’d hurt, the ones he’d abandoned. And of course those who wanted to hurt him.
He walked, and walked.

Re: The Catalyst
Okay, I'm not going to be posting any more until at least March 3rd, because of a little project I'm doing which involves me not goingon the downstairs computer for a month, so don't expect any more scenes any time soon.

Re: The Catalyst
Act One/Scene 5
He looked around impatiently, for the truck. He was told that it would be the blue Ford F-150, with darkly tinted windows, and the license plate that said, BADGRL7. Brian Jynne didn’t appreciate that part.
He had been sent to Voxity by plane. Brian hated planes. Being so far away from any stone or solid ground made him feel helpless and weak. “The Don” had told him that to ensure his safety, and his protection, Mr. Jynne would have to undertake a task for him. He was told that this task would be given to him in segments, and he would receive instructions as he went along.
Brian didn’t like being someone else’s tool, but he really had no choice, and so he had accepted The Don’s “generous offer”. He clicked the “Lock” button on the keys he received again, and heard a BEEP somewhere in the crowded parking lot. He walked towards it. Once again, he pressed the button, and once again, he heard the sound. Only this time, he finally saw the headlights.
He eagerly pressed the button several more times, and headed for the sound and lights. Soon, he was at the car, and ready to finally move on to the next part of his journey. He got in the driver’s seat, put the key in the ignition, and felt it vibrate. Oddly, there was no sound when the engine started.
“Hello Mr. Jynne.”
Brian looked around the car to see where the sound came from, and then looked at the GPS system, to see the picture of The Don looking back at him.
“I see you’ve found the truck,” the voice continued, “I trust your plane trip went smoothly?”
“Yeah, smooth…” Brian muttered to himself.
“Brian, this is a two way audio/video recorder.”
He hadn’t thought of that.
“Well, let’s get down to business. As you may have already noticed, this is not your average truck. My people have put a painstakingly large amount of effort into the…accessories, this car possesses. The first two you’ve seen so far is the communications, and the stealth features. The engine is completely silent to the outside. The car also features temperature hiding technology, adjustable tinted windows, changing license plates--both holographic and physical, if necessary--and several active features which will be explained to you later on.
“The truck is highly durable, featuring run-flat tires, multi-layer bullet-resistant coatings, metals, and cork in the frame and body, Lucite glass, and a heavily armored engine block.
“There are also many communications features. All signals and radio waves leaving and entering the car are heavily encrypted, using custom built equipment and programs, made specifically by people I know and trust very personally. Nobody can track you, and even if they find some way to crack the codes, they’d have to find the signals first.
“Now, Mr. Jynne, you may also notice several unfamiliar buttons and dials on the dashboard. Do not touch any of these, unless either instructed to, or if you are given permission by me to do so. Their purpose will be explained to you later on.”
“What am I, James Bond now?”
“No Mr. Jynne, James Bond had some money of his own, he was also Aptocian, and wore a suit.”
Brian had to smile at that.
“Now that we’re done with that, open up the glove compartment to your right.”
Brian pressed the handle, and the glove compartment popped open. Inside, there were several documents, as well as well as a .45 caliber pistol.
“I don’t use guns.”
“I know Mr. Jynne, and that is unfortunate. Still, the gun is not for you to use.”
“Then who’s it for?”
“As was explained to you earlier, things will be explained to you as you go along. Now, open the envelope that was in the compartment, the one labeled, ‘Step One‘.”
He reached over and grabbed the sealed brown envelope, and opened it up. Inside, there were directions on how to use the GPS.
“Where am I going Mr. Don?” Brian asked the small LCD screen.
“To a little city called Reggino.”
