Rockband 2 vs Guitar Hero: World Tour
Debate
I've found Rockband to be epicly awesome and infinately better than GH 1-3. However, WT has stepped up. Some of it's songs (like Eye of the Tiger) are just wicked to play, and they added a new difficulty level and a system that lets you make your character like in Rockband. They also allowed Rockband instruments to work on it this time, so you don't gotta go out and spend $200 to get a second drum set when you already have the Rockband one.
I have not played Rockband 2 yet (I have it, but haven't had the chance to use it yet), so I don't know how they will compare. However, I'm sure many of you will.
Let the battles... BEGIN! (well, probably not since most people will side with Rockband)

Rock band is prettier, has more songs, and has better instruments.
And I played eye of the tiger. The chart is horrible.

My views tend to be to "extreme" for the appreciation of members of these message boards, but I'll go ahead.
I respect Rock Band and Guitar Hero for what they are: Mindless toys with absolutely no depth.
I can agree that both are a fun thing to get together with friends and play, but I am increasingly disgusted by the way it is portrayed to represent the medium of games.
In one of my classes, we were discussing violence in media. Someone mentioned video games and I made the statement that "Every game has to have some form of conflict. How else could there be interactivity?"
A girl in the class room responded with "No, guitar hero doesn't have any conflict"
I simply glared at her and said "Guitar Hero is NOT a game"
The same goes for Rockband, as they are both the same thing. I'm not saying their bad, but I'm tired of people praising them so much, and I'm tired of people using them as a way to define gaming.
<end rant>
you asked for it...

I suppose you wouldn't know this if you havn't played it, but there is conflict in Guitar Hero. Boss battles (or w/e the heck they're called) anyone?

Yah, both games actually do let you go head-to-head in guitar battles.
But anyways, I played Rockband 2 yesterday and Guitar Hero WT... and I gotta say, the GH karaoke bar sucks. I also hated the little purple bars that came across on the bass lines. It changed the whole concept of playing the bass guitar. After yesterday, I must say that Rockband is defiantly the winner in bass and vocal play. For guitar and drum play, they are equal in my view (though I can't figure out how you do star power on the drums). As far as music goes, the base music is tied (so far in what I have unlocked), but Rockband has far better DLC. GH may be a better game for beginners, though, as it has a beginner mode in which you don't even have to worry about pressing the right colors, you just have to press a random color and strum.

Re: Rockband 2 vs Guitar Hero: World Tour
Havent played rockband 2 just GH WT so i wouldnt know where to compare.
but I like GH WT quite a bit more than Rockband 1 (of course you have to add in the fact that its a newer game), but i like what theyve done with it
EX: the purple bars in the baseline make it harder which can by all means make it funner
The new make your own music feature, which yes you have to work with it a bit to understand it cause the tutorial kinda sux on explaining it.
The song choices are pretty good but some are excessively long and you fail at 98% of a 8 minute song and u chuck your guitar at the wall breaking it, pulling xbox off its spot, breaking the disc and xbox in the process (cousin did this was funnier than hell and he has no worrenty on it
overall from what ive heard about Rockband 2 id have to say i like GH WT better
